Liturgy Committee
We promote and monitor authentic and meaningful worship. This committee coordinates ALL facets of public worship, including music, art, and all ministries, i.e., Acolytes, Ministers of the Word, Eucharistic Ministers, Cantors, Choir, and Ushers.
ACOLYTES (ALTAR SERVERS)
We assist the priest and deacon during all the Masses. We make sure everything that is needed for the Mass is in place.
Altar Server Training: Youth grades 3-12 who have made their First Communion are invited to become an altar server. We especially are needing servers for the Saturday 4:00 PM mass, but servers are assigned for all masses. Training will be on Saturday, January 10 from 9:30-11:30 AM in the church. Please fill out an application found at the Usher’s Table. If you need an application or more information, call Bev Wittgenstein at 651-457-4304.
Volunteer Opportunities: Boys and girls, grades 4-12, serve at all the masses and special services during Holy Week and Christmas. Training is required.
MINISTERS OF THE WORD (LECTORS & COMMENTATORS)
We proclaim the Word of God at all the masses and special services.
Volunteer Opportunities: This ministry is open to all members of St. Peter Claver parish. Children must have completed the 5th Grade. Every year the Liturgy Committee sponsors a Ministry Day when training is provided for those interested in becoming lectors and commentators. Once training is completed, lectors and commentators are scheduled for the year. Individuals are responsible for finding their own replacement from the substitute list when they are not able to volunteer as scheduled.
EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
Volunteer Opportunities: Every year we have a Ministry Day where interested parishioners are invited to find out more about this ministry. Training is provided at that time.
ST. PETER CLAVER ENSEMBLE & CANTORS
Worship leadership through song - music ministry.
Volunteer Opportunities: Singers need to have vocal ability, be able to match tones, and read music.
USHERS
We provide ushers at all weekend masses and other church services as needed.
Volunteer Opportunities: Ushers serve at all the masses and special events. You need to be age 14 or older to participate. Training is required.
